The inaugural Aberdeen Self-Build and Renovation event was held at the Aberdeen Hilton Treetops hotel at the weekend, welcoming over 800 visitors over the two days looking to discuss their concepts and plans for a renovation, extension and even a new home.
Main event sponsor Scotframe was joined by 35 other exhibitors offering specialist advice on everything from concept design, timber kits and windows and doors, to kitchens and bathrooms, home security and entertainment.
Scotframe marketing manager Gillian Murray, commented “We were delighted to be involved in the inaugural self-build event which proved to be popular with hundreds of renovation and self-build enthusiasts armed with their concept ideas, drawings and photographs. The event gave us a relaxed platform to inspire people to make their dream of owning a self-build home a reality.”
Seminars ran all weekend and included talks covering topics such as self-build finance, home automation and energy saving ideas. Buildstore was on stage discussing the various ways to self-fund renovations and new builds, whilst Home Energy Scotland shared their hints and tips for creating a more energy-efficient and green home.
Organiser Gavin Esslemont of Etiom Events added “We are delighted with this first self-build and renovation event, which we feel demonstrates a real shift in the local economy, with people thinking seriously about their options for renovating, extending or building their next home.
With the Scottish Government recently announcing a new self-build loan fund initiative to support self-build enthusiasts to afford with their projects, we felt this event was well-timed to further encourage enthusiasts to take the plunge and start planning their next project!”
Etiom Events kicked off their annual fundraising partnership with STV Children’s Appeal at the event and raised £135.00 over the two days.
The Aberdeen Self-Build and Renovation event returns in September 2019 with a new Interior Design zone and expanded seminar programme. For more information, see https://aberdeenselfbuild.com/
