Grant Thornton expands in Aberdeen

Grant Thornton has hired four new team members in the last month and relocated to larger office space as it continues its expansion in Aberdeen.

The leading business and financial advisor has achieved a number of significant client wins – across its audit, tax and advisory services - since it first opened in the Granite City in 2016.

The latest additions are two audit associates, Jack Grigor and Kyle Evett, one corporate finance advisory executive, Matthew Lowson, and support assistant Moira Wilkie.

The new hires further strengthen the firm’s extensive range of services in the North-east of Scotland and provides for further growth in key sectors, including Food & Drink and Energy & Natural Resources.

Audit associate Jack Grigor, commented: “After studying at the University of Aberdeen, I gained experience with a ‘Big 4’ firm before spending time in the public sector. It provided me with a pretty broad range of insight into the different mindsets and business practices here in the North-east. What attracted me to Grant Thornton was their increasing presence in Aberdeen and the fact that they stand out in the city as a firm that’s doing things differently. The whole team is really passionate about both growing our business, and helping our clients to flourish as the local economy begins to turn a corner. I’m really looking forward to playing my part in driving that strategy forward and working with an even wider range of companies throughout the region.”

To facilitate further planned growth in 2019, the team has moved to larger offices within its existing base at The Silver Fin Building, in the heart of Aberdeen city centre.

Across Scotland, Grant Thornton now boasts three offices, in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh, with almost 200 people providing the full spectrum of professional services support to dynamic mid-sized businesses and large corporates.

Barry Fraser, corporate finance director from Grant Thornton’s Aberdeen office, said: “2018 was a particularly strong year for the team here in Aberdeen. With a gradual return to growth in the wider local economy, we’ve been able to demonstrate our innovative, client-focused approach. Aberdeen is a unique marketplace and it’s important to build strong relationships with businesses to understand the different challenges and opportunities they face and help them unlock growth.

“Our expanded team enables us to deliver a first-class insight-led service, ensuring that we’re proactively helping clients across the region and wego into 2019 with optimism.
