Granite Expo 2016 is resounding success, plans announced for 2017

The sixth annual Granite Expo business showcase has been hailed as a resounding success – and plans are already in place to repeat the venture in 2017.

The event was once again created by Granite PR and managed by Business Plus Scotland. It took place at Aberdeen’s Hilton Treetops Hotel on Thursday, October 27 and provided a platform for companies based in and with links to the region to exhibit, network, knowledge share and cross sell. In addition was a series of business seminars covering topics such as recycling, heritage, food and drink, education, and entrepreneurship.

A diverse range of more than 100 business organisations representing many sectors were brought together for the unique, one-day exhibition which ran for the first time in 2011 and has grown from strength to strength ever since. Granite Expo official banking partner for 2016 was Barclays.

The 2016 showcase was officially opened by Aberdeen Journals Editor-in-Chief Damian Bates who commented: “This fascinating and growing event has never been needed more. The only people who are going to get us out of this mess are ourselves and events such as this are a great step in the right direction.”

Granite Expo 2016 creator and managing director of Granite PR, Brett Jackson added: “From the outset, Granite Expo has attracted an excellent range of businesses to ensure a vibrant and interesting event each year.

“Given the ongoing challenges experienced by many, we are particularly encouraged that this year’s Granite Expo attracted its largest ever number of start-up businesses.

“The momentum and anticipation which this event has created makes it a significant date on the local business calendar, therefore we are delighted to announce that Granite Expo will return in 2017 and is planned for Thursday, October 26.”

The competition to judge the best stand was judged by local businessmen and entrepreneurs Andy Willox OBE and Professor Charles P. Skene OBE and the winner was Fennel Media.

In addition to providing the full spectrum of PR services and staging Granite Expo annually, Aberdeen-based Granite PR is known for creating international networking events such as the now well-established Aberdeen-Houston Gateway and the Aberdeen-Norway Gateway.
