One of the north-east’s most popular annual golf events is set to return this summer.

The CNR International Young Pro-Am will take place at Insch Golf Club on Friday, August 21, and will see 22 teams battle it out in the 18 hole tournament.

The event, which will raise funds for CLAN Cancer Support and Insch Golf Club, will see teams of three partnered with a PGA Young Professional with prizes for nearest the pin and longest drive on the day also on offer.

As well as the golfing action, guests will be treated to a tea and bacon roll on arrival, halfway house refreshments, a two-course meal, raffle, auction and an end of day prize giving at what is one of CLAN’s most important fund and awareness raisers of the year.

Last year, 18 teams came together to raise nearly £11,000 for the charity, with every penny going directly towards its provision of free support services to anyone affected by cancer in the north and north-east of Scotland.

Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said: “The annual golf day at Insch is always a fantastic feel-good event and one that we always look forward to as part of our summer fundraising calendar.

“The day is more than just a golf outing, with various prizes, raffle, auction and two course meal adding to the event. It’s a perfect day out for any business which is perhaps looking for an away day and it may also be of interest to individuals who are looking to do something with a group of friends, perhaps to mark a special birthday or occasion.

“Teams are limited and we’d encourage anyone who is interested in coming along to get in touch to book their place. Each team will be guided around the course by a PGA Young Professional, so it’s a perfect chance to hone some new skills along with raising money for a local cause.”

Barry Duncan, CNRI’s Vice President, Finance, said: “CNR International is delighted to once again be sponsoring the Insch Young Pro Am in aid of CLAN. Our relationship with CLAN began over 10 years ago, and since 2003 CLAN has been one CNR International’s ‘Evergreen’ charities. One of our core values is to be an outstanding corporate citizen, and at the heart of this is fostering long term relationships with the local charities which we support. Our relationship with CLAN is a long-standing one, and one which we are very proud of.

“We have witnessed first-hand the excellent work carried out by CLAN on a daily basis, and we would like to thank all those participating for supporting this fantastic golf event.”

Teams of three for the day cost £375. For more information or to register a team, please contact CLAN’s Steph Dowling on 01224 647000 or email steph.dowling@clanhouse.org
