CUT, a diamond wire cutting specialist based in Aberdeen, has finished the year with several new project awards.

Bruce Sinclair, business development manager, stated “We are pleased to welcome a new client, and will complete diamond wire cutting of jacket piles in the North Sea UK sector using our 40” machine.

"This machine is only 560kgs in air, 40-50kgs in water, small dimensions, and very easily maneuverable. It's hugely popular with ROV pilots and divers as it is so user friendly.”

Another award for CUT is for an offshore Western Australia project, where it will complete cutting of various targets to allow platform removal.

This award highlights the global reach of CUT, and in particular the need for proven expertise for this particular project. CUT was recently nominated as finalists for the Northern Star Business Awards 2025 in the “Going Global Category”. CUT has also been awarded a pile cutting project in Singapore and a pipeline cutting job in the Black Sea, amongst others.

Bruce Sinclair added “CUT has completed 43 projects this year, a record. Our clients come to us as we are the global experts in our field.

"We have never failed to complete all cuts required on a project, whether that is 5” mooring chains or 6m diameter riser turret moorings. The vast experience of our operators and the lessons learned during our 40+ year history is invaluable and a vital part of the CUT success story.

"We have 15 projects awarded for 2025 already, and expect to double that in the next two months. We’ll certainly complete projects in six continents next year, and the Western Australia project award is particularly satisfying. The tender process has taken 18 months, but our recent successful projects in Australia helped ensure we were awarded this one.”
