Scottish-headquartered Equalizer International, part of the Equalizer Group has been presented with an award honouring its Achievement in International Business.
The award, from Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, is the fourth award to be won by the Group in 2015. It follows on from three awards won earlier in the year in the UK and Europe which acknowledge the company’s innovative approach to both the design and development of flange maintenance tools and the development of a new flange integrity system.
The latest award recognises the company’s success in increasing its global presence after opening its first overseas base in Houston two years ago. It now sells its products to more than 50 countries through a network of distributors in six continents. In January 2015, Equalizer International launched two new divisions – Equalizer Americas and Equalizer Asia – under the banner of the Equalizer Group.
“We really value this award because it recognises the work which has gone in around the world to support our growth,” said Ian McCormick, Chairman of the Equalizer Group.
“We truly are a global company and more than 85% of our sales now come from exporting. However we also want to ensure that we continue to have strong visibility in the local oil and gas market so that we can benchmark our company and our products against others operating in this very niche market.”
The company, formed in 1994, also launched Equalizer Flange Integrity Systems in 2015 to take forward the development of the Xtegrity system. Xtegrity, which provides a unique solution for dealing with heavily corroded or degraded bolts in flange joints, was the 2015 winner of the Grampian Award for Innovation.
Earlier in the year, Equalizer International’s Secure-Grip (SG) tools were recognized in the EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Challenge Awards as having an impact on safety and quality while challenging tasks durations and costs. The company was also awarded a Diploma of Distinction for Innovation at the 8th Gas Engineering Fair EXPO-GAS held in Kielce, Poland. The organisers of the event particularly singled out the SG tools for pipe flange spreading which they highlighted as one the most innovative products on show during the two-day exhibition.
