Employees from a North-east recruitment firm are set to undertake a skydive in a bid to raise funds for the firm’s charity of the year.
Alasdair Corbett, Steph Wemyss and Stephanie Gourley of Genesis Personnel, which specialises in delivering expert recruitment solutions to various sectors including oil and gas, marine, commercial, logistics and industrial, will take to the skies this Sunday (18 October) and dive for children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent.
With an original target of £1500, the brave employees have already surpassed this, raising more than £2500 to date, after hosting a buttery morning and a One Night Only concert in a bid to boost funds for the cause.
The sell-out One Night Only performance, held in Peterhead Community Theatre last month, featured local singers from Aberdeen and Peterhead, as well as a tap dance routine and a Doric sketch, receiving a standing ovation by the audience.
Alasdair Corbett, creative designer at Genesis Personnel, said: “There was a lot of hype and excitement around our One Night Only concert, however now that this has taken place, reality has hit home as the skydive is rapidly approaching. Although this is something the girls and I have always wanted to do, our nerves are kicking in ahead of Sunday’s jump. However our efforts will all be worth it in the end as CLIC Sargent is a fantastic cause and one we are all delighted to support.
“Our original fundraising target was £1500, but combined with sponsorship, our concert and a buttery morning, we have reached just over £2500 and it’s still climbing – we are over the moon.”
Wendy Marr, managing director of Genesis Personnel, said: “CLIC Sargent is a charity close to our hearts and I’m ecstatic that we have such talent in the business, who are able to put their creative minds together and use their amazing skills to raise money for the charity. Not many people have the courage to perform for an audience, never mind undertake a skydive, so I am excited to hear all about the stunt and the total funds raised for this heartfelt cause.”
CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. It provides clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life.
