Comedy troupe The Flying Pigs have produced smiles all round at a local family support charity after raising £23,111 from a special performance in aid of Home-Start Aberdeen.
Sponsored by Stewart Spence and The Marcliffe Hotel, the one-off show took place at HMT earlier this summer. The performance – A Bit of Crackling - featured highlights from Flying Pigs’ shows over the past 17 years and attracted a bumper audience.
“This tremendous final total will make a genuine difference to the work of Home-Start Aberdeen,” said Georgette Cobban, scheme manager, Home-Start Aberdeen. “We are now one of the largest Home-Start schemes in Scotland and have a waiting list of families who desperately need our support. The funds raised from the performance will boost our efforts to recruit and train additional home visiting volunteers, who provide vulnerable families in the city with the emotional and practical support they so badly need.
“We are very grateful to The Flying Pigs, Stewart Spence and The Marcliffe Hotel for enabling this amazing fundraiser for Home-Start Aberdeen. I would also like to thank the other businesses and individuals who supported us by providing their skills and services, including XIC who printed all the show materials.”
The Flying Pigs’ Greg Gordon said: “We were delighted to be able to support Home-Start Aberdeen. It is so important for people to have access to the kind of support they provide, and we’re thrilled that the evening was such a success.”
The Flying Pigs perform their new show ‘Dreich Encounter’ at HMT from Thursday, 2 – Saturday, 11 June 2016. Tickets are available online at www.aberdeenperformingarts.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall and His Majesty's Theatre.
