Fundraising hits the quarter century

Friends of ANCHOR visited the offices of north-east law firm, Stronachs, on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 to say thank you to the staff and Partners, following a two-year commitment by the firm to fundraise for the charity. They were delighted to discover that the total raised had broken through the £25K mark.

The funds raised by the firm will be a welcome early donation to the newly launched ‘Anchored Together’ appeal.

Carol Crowther, partner and chair of Stronachs’ Social & Charities Committee, said: “We originally set ourselves a target of £20,000, so to have hit a quarter century is fantastic. It took a lot of hard work and commitment on the part of a lot of people and a lot of support from our business and personal contacts but it’s been a great privilege to support Friends of Anchor in the excellent work it does to help those affected by cancer throughout the North-east.”

Sarah-Jane Hogg, fundraising & development director, said; “It is always a real honour when a company chooses Friends of ANCHOR to focus their fundraising efforts and commitment to. To have had Stronachs set themselves such an ambitious target and beat it in style with £25,000 raised is tremendous. We have really enjoyed working with Carol and the team. The personal commitment so many have brought to raising awareness and funds for the cause is testament to the company’s support for local causes in the community. Every penny of the phenomenal amount raised really will make a genuine impact on our ANCHORED Together appeal with our £2m target to reach within the next two years.”

“In 2021 the ANCHOR Centre will open its doors and Friends of ANCHOR have committed to provide the all-important extras for patients in the purpose-built facility, that NHSG alone can’t provide. Significant contributions like this from Stronachs is helping making this a reality.”

Friends of ANCHOR was set up in 1997 to directly support cancer and haematology patients by committing long-term funding to medical equipment, patient wellbeing and leading cancer research. Every penny donated goes directly to the cause as all of the charity’s running and administration costs are covered by Balmoral Group.
