The 'worst energy supplier for customer service' revealed in annual league table
The country's largest household energy supplier has come bottom of an annual league table for customer service as UK households continue to grapple with punitive bills.
The consumer group Which? said British Gas was the worst performer overall after factoring in its own assessment of companies' practices to complement its survey of bill-payers.
The Centrica-owned firm was followed jointly by Boost - part of Ovo Energy - and So Energy.
British Gas received an overall score of 56%.
FTSE 100 mining chief to forfeit $30m after alleged serious misconduct
A FTSE 100 mining boss who was fired for alleged serious misconduct is to lose nearly $30m (£24m) as his former employer claws back cash.
On Thursday evening, Endeavour Mining said that its former chief executive Sébastien de Montessus would forfeit share options, pay and bonuses.
It is clawing back a $10m one-off award to Mr de Montessus in 2021 and a $1.5m cash portion of the bonus received for 2022. The company is blocking an expected $2m bonus for 2023 and $15.6m in shares that had been set aside for him. It said the total amount forfeited and being clawed back is $29.1m.
Endeavour Mining, the largest gold producer in West Africa, announced on Jan 4 that it had terminated the employment of Mr de Montessus for “serious misconduct” after uncovering an “irregular payment instruction” of $5.9m.

The 77-year-old warned that the closure might force many to even ditch the brand as a whole.
She said: “If you are elderly, disabled, pushing a prom or a wheelchair, how are you supposed to get to Union Square when the bus stop is on Union Street."
