An upcoming Glasgow event
hosted by Arts & Business Scotland will demonstrate the benefits of
bringing together the worlds of creativity, culture and enterprise to help
businesses innovate.
Presented in partnership
with the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, it will introduce the Culture &
Business Marketplace, a unique platform for forging connections between the
arts and business sectors, which is launching in coming months.
Arts & Business
Scotland is encouraging representatives from companies interested in finding
out more about how they can harness creative talent and uncover new
opportunities in the workplace, to sign up to the event, which is taking place
on January 19th at Merchants House of Glasgow between 5 and 7.30pm.
Eddie Sinnott, product
director with Cirrus Logic, will share the benefits of building relationships
with organisations such as the Edinburgh Science Festival and the Edinburgh
Fringe. In addition to providing access to STEM programs and outreach to
support diversity in tech, working with local arts, education, and heritage efforts
can provide professional development opportunities, contribute to employee
wellbeing and engagement, and cultivate a strong connection to the community.
Meanwhile, Craig Cameron,
Director of leading acrylics manufacturer Midton Acrylics Ltd, will share
insights from his company’s partnership with Glasgow School of Art. Accompanied
by examples of their work, Craig will demonstrate how students from the
renowned art institute have been using newly developed recycled acrylic
materials to create original sculptures, to the benefit of both the students’
development and his organisation’s sustainability, staff engagement and growth
goals.
David Watt, CEO OF Arts
and Business Scotland, added: “A
thriving cultural sector is foundational to a thriving economy, yet there are
far too few opportunities for creatives and businesses to come together. It is
our hope that this event will highlight the many benefits the Culture &
Business Marketplace, launching later this year, will bring and how it will
serve to fill this void by providing a reciprocally beneficial platform for
connection, collaboration and creative solutions.”
Stuart Patrick CBE, Chief
Executive, Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: “It
is great to host this event introducing The Culture & Business Marketplace
on Thursday 19th January.
“This new tool will
connect the culture and business communities and provide a mutually beneficial
forum for businesses to grow and work within Scotland’s exciting cultural and
arts sector.
“The event is a unique
opportunity for businesses in Glasgow to learn about this new resource that
will drive innovation and address the challenges that 2023 will bring.”
