Flowline staff get their running shoes on for charity

An energetic pair of colleagues at Oldmeldrum-based Flowline Specialists came together on Sunday, 17 May 2015 to compete in the Baker Hughes 10k race to raise money for Aberdeenshire charity, Inspire.

Electrical technician Cameron Grant, from Macduff, and Nick Wells, a junior project engineer from Aberdeen, donned their trainers for the running festival and have so far accumulated over £450 in sponsorship.

Based in Aberdeen’s Beach Boulevard and delivering services to individuals with learning disabilities and additional support needs across the north-east, Inspire is Flowline Specialists’ nominated charity until March 2016.

Cameron and Nick were among nearly 6,000 runners taking part in the annual event which is a highlight of the running season. Both clocked very impressive times on the 6.2 mile route round Aberdeen beach. Nick crossed the line in 42 minutes 14 seconds, while Cameron completed the course in 49 minutes 21 seconds. It meant they finished 228th and 971st fastest respectively.

Managing director of Flowline Specialists, Jim Smith said: “We were really pleased that Cameron and Nick decided to pick up the fundraising baton from colleagues to participate in the Baker Hughes 10K and continue our fundraising for Inspire. The charity does such great work across the north-east and we are very proud to be one of their fundraising partners.”

This was the latest in a series of fundraising initiatives being undertaken by staff at Flowline Specialists as part of its 18-month long partnership with Inspire. Fundraising kicked off in November with a team of four walking over hot coals on Bonfire Night as part of a firewalk organised by Inspire. Four members of staff have also recently completed tandem skydives.
