Flowline sponsorship revs up Royal Deeside Speed Festival

North-east energy industry equipment manufacturer and service provider Flowline Specialists has got into gear with the Royal Deeside Speed Festival by sponsoring part of next month’s motorsport event.

The Oldmeldrum-based firm is sponsoring the Land Rover Experience off-road trail at the event, which takes place at Kincardine Castle on Sunday, 21 August. Thousands of visitors are expected to attend the inaugural Royal Deeside Speed Festival which will feature a packed programme of activities to entertain and excite petrol heads of all ages.

The off-road trail will be operated by Land Rover Experience Scotland, which is based at Dunkeld in Perthshire. Its team of instructors will transport visitors in a fleet of the iconic British off-road manufacturer’s latest vehicles.

A specialist and technically challenging course has been built in the woods above the castle for the event. The route will take passengers on a memorable journey that will demonstrate the technical capabilities of Land Rover’s vehicles as they take on a series of obstacles, including the rocky road, the wall of doom and the toblerone. Rounding the route off is Willie’s Drop, a blind, very steep descent over an edge into the depths of the estate’s old quarry.

Alongside trips on the Flowline Specialists sponsored Land Rover Experience off-road trail, the event will include a demonstration hill climb up the castle drive involving over 140 cars, displays of cars and motorbikes from leading dealerships and a static car show made up of around 250 classic and specialist cars.

The event will also feature a food, drink and craft festival that will be housed in the castle’s walled garden and showcase a range of locally made products. Rounding the day off will be the first Royal Deeside Soapbox Derby, a fun, obstacle laden race down the castle drive which is expected to deliver plenty of amusement.

Tickets for the Royal Deeside Speed Festival can be purchased in advance from the event website, www.rdsf.co.uk, and are priced at £15 for adults, £12.50 for children aged between five and 16, and £50 for a family ticket that permits entry for two adults and up to three children. Children under five years old will be given free entry.

Jim Smith, Flowline Specialists chief executive, said: “The Royal Deeside Speed Festival is shaping up to be a high octane event that will feature attractions to keep everyone entertained. Kincardine Castle will provide a stunning backdrop for each of the elements.

“Flowline Specialists is really pleased to be supporting the event by sponsoring the Land Rover Experience off-road trail. A trip around the route will entertain and amaze visitors, and no doubt produce a few gasps along the way too.”

Morag Yule, from the Royal Deeside Speed Festival organising team, said: “We are excited to have Flowline Specialists on-board as sponsor of the Land Rover Experience trail. Flowline Specialists is an established and successful north-east firm and it is fantastic to have it supporting this year’s event.

“An action-packed programme of activities will run throughout the day. The hill climb up the west drive is set to be fantastic element with an eclectic mix of vehicles and a real contrast to trips on the off-road trail. A highlight will be the Soapbox Derby, which should offer plenty of thrills, and hopefully not too many spills.”
