Entrepreneur Robert Kilgour has outlined plans to more than double turnover at his Renaissance Care Group.
Kilgour’s five-year plan involves making a number of acquisitions across Scotland which he believes will see the business grow from £46 million in annual revenue to £100 million by 2029.
That will also mean the number of care homes it runs increasing from 17 to more than 30 over the period.
Previously Mr Kilgour founded Four Seasons Health Care and then started Renaissance in 2004 with two homes, 90 staff and £2 million turnover.
It now employs approximately 1,300 people looking after 800 residents across 17 care homes, including the Cowdry Club, Riverside, Torry, Persley Castle and Jesmond care homes in Aberdeen.
Mr Kilgour said: “Care homes continue to struggle in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing cost-of-living and energy crisis.
"However, acquisition strategies like ours can provide an attractive and meaningful lifeline for many smaller operators as strong regional groups of between 30 to 60 care homes can achieve better economies of scale while still maintaining a personal care approach for both residents and staff which larger operators simply can’t deliver.
“I firmly believe the sector is ready for a new type of regional consolidation and our expansion plans will therefore focus on acquiring homes to join the Renaissance Care family, providing more quality, individual care to hundreds more residents across Scotland.”
