Mowi, which employs 1,500 people in Scotland, has purchased two uninhabited islands on the west coast with a view to siting new salmon farms there.
The industry heavy-weight scooped up Sanda Island, off the tip of the Kintyre peninsula, and plans to install farms off the east coast and turn the island into a tourist destination.
While uninhabited, Sanda features seven houses, a lighthouse and even a tavern. It was on the market for £2.5million.
The project is expected to create 14 jobs at the fish farm with a further 10 with the tourist development.
The BBC reports the sale of Sanda included two smaller neighbouring islands of Sheep and Glunimore.
Mowi has also purchased Fladda-Chuain to the north of Skye, a small rocky island mentioned in Irish mythology as the "Isle of Perpetual Youth" where the sun supposedly never sets.
