First time event for Huntly Fundraising Group raises £4500 for Marie Curie

Hundreds of midnight walkers took to the streets of Huntly last month to raise awareness of Marie Curie.

The first time event, the 10k ‘Sunrise Walk’ saw participants set off at midnight from Huntly Golf Club. Local organisations supported the event by providing food and refreshments.

Angie Smith, one of the charities volunteers, said: ‘Huntly is a very close nit Community. We thought it would be positive to help people who have been left behind, connecting them with others who are in a similar position. The idea behind having it at midnight was so that when people finished the walk it was a new day.’

The group are delighted to have received such positive feedback from the event and would like to thank everyone who supported the event. The group are finalisng a date to repeat the Sunrise Walk next year.

The Huntly Fundraising Group have their next Marie Curie event on Saturday July 15 – a coffee morning at Stewarts Hall, Huntly, from 9.45am-11.30am.
