First Minister hears business concerns in Aberdeen

Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce welcomes First Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP to the Chamber on Monday (Feb 1) as part of its Meet the Leader series of political engagement events.

Members will hear from Ms Sturgeon on the SNP’s priorities ahead of Holyrood elections on May 5 this year and they will be able put their questions to her directly on the issues that matter to businesses.

Ms Sturgeon’s visit coincides with the arrival of the Chamber’s new chief executive, Russell Borthwick.

The event is the second in a series of events being organised by the Chamber where the leaders of Scotland’s main political parties visit the Chamber to meet with members.

The Meet the Leader series forms part of the Chamber’s ambition aim to put members at the heart of a strong and sustainable regional economy and ensure the region continues to drive the national economy.

The series kicked off on Jan 22 with Willie Rennie, leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, and Ms Sturgeons’ visit is followed in the next few weeks by visits from Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson and Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale.

During each event in the Meet the Leader series, the leader addresses the private audience on what can be done by politicians to ensure the region remains a driver of the economy, before the floor is opened to the audience for comments and questions.

  • Monday's event is for members only and is free, but has limited availability, so book your space now.
  • The Chamber's has recently published its 2016 Scottish Parliament Election Manifesto, telling politicians what businesses in the North-east need from the next Holyrood parliament.
