Speaking ahead of the events, Chairman of the council’s Infrastructure Services Committee, Cllr David Aitchison, said: “This is a really exciting time for sustainable transport.
“As well as realising that walking and cycling for short journeys, car sharing, and using public transport for their daily commutes can be very enjoyable, people are beginning to recognise the advantages of low-emission vehicles.
“Aberdeenshire Council is already supporting this emerging technology by working in partnership with Transport Scotland to provide a charging network for plug-in cars.”
Vice-chair of the committee, Cllr Stephen Smith, continued: “By the end of autumn 2015, there will be a charging point in 11 of our key towns and the council’s fleet is already using a number of electric vans.
“The Electric Carnival will give residents an opportunity to find out more about electric cars in a fun and family-friendly environment so please do come along when it rolls into a town near you.”
