More than 12,000 spectators descended on Aberdeen beach tonight (Sunday 5 November) to watch the annual Aberdeen City Council Fireworks Spectacular.
Hosted by Northsound 1’s Jeff and Lauren in the Morning, the annual free event, entertained the crowds with jugglers and a charity firewalk, before the main fireworks display at 7.30pm.
Created by Fireworx Scotland, the display was the culmination of weeks of preparation – selecting music, planning and designing the show, picking and preparing the best products for the display, and finally setting up and delivering the show - this year’s display brought the wow factor with colourful displays set to a musical accompaniment of popular children’s film soundtracks.
Aberdeen City Council Culture spokesperson councillor Marie Boulton said: “The annual fireworks spectacular is always a highlight on the Aberdeen events calendar, and tonight did not disappoint.
“Aberdeen is undergoing a great transformation at the moment with significant development linked to our City Centre Masterplan. Providing quality events through our Events 365 programme and bringing city spaces to life for the community is vitally important.
“With more than 12,000 people at the beach tonight, there was a fantastic family atmosphere, and it is an excellent example of the appetite in the city for community events. The fire jugglers and charity fire-walk by Inspire were the perfect beginning to the evening, and the display created by Fireworx Scotland was incredible.
“The fireworks display is the start of an exciting winter calendar of events, with Christmas in Aberdeen launching on Friday, November 17 with the opening of our Winter Village on Broad Street and in Marischal College Quad."
