Brimmond Financial Planning (BFP), a Westhill-based financial advisory firm, recently took a unique approach to community engagement by participating in the popular event, Health and Wellbeing Aberdeen, held at the Beach Ballroom.

While financial services might not traditionally be associated with health and wellbeing, the firm’s innovative presence highlighted the critical connection between financial health and overall wellbeing.

Under the banner of “Are You Financially Fit?” the team, led by husband and wife duo Kris and Rachel Urquhart, engaged with attendees to emphasise the importance of managing pensions, investments, and insurance. It's presence at the event resonated strongly with the public, as it shed light on the often-overlooked impact of financial stress on mental and emotional health.

BFP had the opportunity to speak with a diverse range of individuals, sharing practical advice and answering questions about achieving financial security. Attendees appreciated the approachable and informative discussions, with many noting that understanding and improving their financial health helped alleviate stress and improve their overall mental wellbeing.

“Our goal is to help individuals feel confident and in control of their financial future,” said director Kris Urquhart. “In a room full of chiropractors, nutritionists, and therapists, we might have stuck out like a sore thumb. However, once people recognised the connection between financial health and overall wellness, they appreciated our advice. It was rewarding to empower attendees to take control of their finances and focus on building a secure and fulfilling life. By offering practical tools and advice, we aim to remove the uncertainty that often surrounds financial decision-making.”

Kris took part in the panel talk on the topic of 'Looking After Your Wellbeing at Work’ alongside Kim Woolner from Holding Space, Steve Mosley from Omexom, and Tracy Stainer from Aberdeen Sports Village. Kris went over some basic financial pointers for the audience and talked about what practical steps individuals can take to relieve financial stress.

The team would like to extend its sincere thanks to the event organisers for having them along and for providing a fantastic platform to engage with the community.
