Workers at an Aberdeenshire business have given a massive boost to a festive food appeal which will help to ensure Aberdeen food banks are well stocked this Christmas.
Staff at north-east energy industry manufacturer and service provider Flowline Specialists have donated over £300 worth of food and toiletries to the Original 106 Christmas appeal. The appeal has been held in conjunction with local social enterprise and food bank Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE), with the aim of ensuring the region’s food banks are well stocked for the festive season.
Flowline Specialists’ encouraged its entire workforce to get involved, either by purchasing items or donating money which colleagues used to fund a big shop. Items contributed to the appeal included non-perishable everyday household groceries, toiletries, a range of baby products and some food stuffs that could be put to use over the Christmas period.
North-east residents have donated thousands of items to the appeal which will now be distributed by CFINE to other food banks and charitable organisations in the region. Food donations can be made to the Original 106 Christmas appeal until Friday. With local food banks currently experiencing high demand, they are always looking for donations.
Flowline Specialists’ donation is part of its 15-month long, 15 for 15 charity campaign which it is running to mark its 15th anniversary. During the initiative, the firm and its staff are donating items or fundraising for a series of different good causes or community projects.
Jim Smith, Flowline Specialists CEO, said: “The Original 106 Christmas appeal is a fantastic initiative and the whole team at Flowline Specialists is very proud to have supported it and help make a difference to the lives of a number of families this festive season. Hearing of the demand that local food banks experience is quite astounding, so I’d encourage everyone to support them in whatever way they can, whenever they can.
“Our donation was part of our 15 for 15 campaign. It is a way for us to give something back to a number of local community projects or charities as a way of marking our fifteenth anniversary, which we celebrated earlier in 2016.”
