Pole to Pole isn’t your standard expedition. It’s a journey. One that sees Aberdeen-based wife and husband team, Chris and Julie Ramsey, take on the harshest of conditions – all in an electric vehicle.

Chris and Julie Ramsey are an adventurous couple embarking on a 17,000-mile journey from the North Pole to the South Pole in March 2023. The Pole to Pole expedition is a unique journey that will take the couple across the planet, and they plan to do it as sustainably as possible.

After reaching out to the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce about ATA Carnets for their upcoming 17,000-mile adventure, Chris and Julie soon became members and hope to educate the wider membership about the role of electric vehicles in reducing their carbon footprint.

The Ramsey’s mission is two-fold: they want to explore the world in a way that has a minimal impact on the environment and spread awareness about the importance of electric vehicles (EVs). The couple is working in collaboration with Nissan, and they hope to use their journey to inspire others to make the switch to electric vehicles.

“Our ambition is to capture hearts and minds and to show people that electric vehicles are the way forward,” Chris Ramsey has said. “We want to demonstrate that electric vehicles are capable of taking us on an incredible journey and that they don’t have to be seen as a sacrifice.”

The couple is going above and beyond to ensure that their expedition is as sustainable as possible. They plan to offset any emissions produced during their journey by working directly with projects that focus on renewable energy, reforestation, and other initiatives that positively impact the environment. In addition, Chris and Julie Ramsey are passionate about raising awareness about climate change. They plan to document their journey, and they hope to use this platform to spread their message about the importance of taking action to protect our fragile planet.

“Our main goal is to inspire people,” Julie Ramsey has said. “We want to show them that they can make a difference and that they don’t have to feel powerless in the face of the environmental crisis.”

ATA Carnets have proven to be a useful tool for Chris and Julie as they navigate the logistics of their journey. This document allows for the temporary import of goods into a foreign country without paying duties or taxes, making it a valuable resource for international travel. By working with the Chamber, Chris and Julie were able to access the information they needed to facilitate their journey.

The Pole to Pole expedition is an ambitious undertaking, and Chris and Julie Ramsey are embarking on it of their own accord. They are determined to spread the message that they care about, and they hope to show others that electric vehicles can be used to explore the world in a sustainable way.
