Explore the great outdoors with the Energetica Summer Festival

Following the success of last year’s festival, the Energetica Summer Festival is returning for a fourth year, celebrating the beauty and variety of the Energetica corridor.

The 2016 festival line-up features guided walks, wildlife spotting, secret garden tours and bushcraft sessions, with something suitable for all of the family.

Running from May until August, the festival showcases the stunning coastal scenery and diverse wildlife of the corridor from the north of Aberdeen to Peterhead.

Residents and visitors can sign up for a huge range of fun activities, most of which are free, to help them explore the natural wonders of the corridor.

The 2016 Festival follows the successful 2015 edition, which was enjoyed by hundreds of visitors from across the UK and as far afield as Canada.

Visitors are encouraged to share photos of the various events on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram using #energeticafest.

Energetica is a 30-mile corridor stretching from the Bridge of Don in Aberdeen, north to Peterhead and west to Aberdeen International Airport.

The Energetica programme aims to affirm the corridor as ‘Scotland’s Energy Corridor’, with the North East’s stunning natural environment, accessibility and hospitality making it one of the most interesting and enjoyable locations in the UK in which to visit, live and work.

Energetica Development Manager, James Welsh, said: “Last year’s festival was the first time that the programme of events spanned across the summer months rather than over a single weekend. This proved to be very successful with hundreds of people signing up for the various events on offer, which is why we have adopted this approach again for 2016.

“The Energetica Summer Festival is a unique opportunity to showcase the diversity of the corridor and the abundance of activities, wildlife and scenery that is right on our doorstep here in the North East. Under the guidance of experts and volunteers, visitors can discover how much there is to see, do and learn about the stunning environment that we have here.”

The majority of events are free to attend but booking is essential and places are limited. For full details of the various events on offer and how to sign up, go to www.energetica.uk.com/festival2016.
