A one-day workshop for people who are interested in pursuing a career in occupational therapy will be held at Robert Gordon University (RGU) next month.
The free event ‘A Day in the Life of an Occupational Therapist’ will be held in the university’s Faculty of Health and Social Care from 9.30am to 3pm on Monday, September 5.
The workshop is open to secondary school pupils, those who are considering a career change as well as mature students.
Attendees will learn what skills are involved in occupational therapy, see the diverse areas within the role across populations, and find out what occupational therapists do in their daily work.
They will also learn more about the Occupational Therapy degree, which is delivered by RGU’s School of Health Sciences, by meeting current students, course lecturers and local occupational therapists as well as making use of the university’s purpose built facilities.
The workshops are interactive and varied to promote real life experiential opportunities to learn more about the profession
Dawn Mitchell, Subject Lead in Occupational Therapy at RGU, said: “The Occupational Therapy Career Workshop is always very popular and we are looking forward to welcoming those who are interested in learning more about the this rewarding career and showing them what the job entails.
“We’ll use our modern Clinical Skills Centre during which will allow you to try several practical activities with volunteer patients in simulated hospital and domestic settings.”
The Occupational Therapy Career Workshop has been designed for those who are seriously considering a career in the field. A total of 40 places are available and early registration is advised.
