The mere mention of Christmas in September might well send shivers up your spine, but with just three months until the big day it’s important to start making preparations.
The festive season can be a stressful occasion when it comes to cooking and entertaining guests, but a prestigious hotel on the outskirts of Aberdeen is offering the perfect solution.
The Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel and Spa has a range of Christmas dining packages designed to suit the needs of couples and families.
With its stunning architecture and original features, the 19th century mansion house, which is nestled in a picturesque setting surrounded by 30 acres of land, just three miles from the city centre, offers guests a real taste of home from home.
People wanting to take a break from cooking this Christmas can visit for lunch in the magnificent Ballroom or main hotel enjoying either the Christmas daybuffet, traditional lunch or gourmet six course lunch in the beautiful Blairs restaurant.
Following last year’s sell out event, Ardoe’s executive chef will be creating a Chocolate Wonderland, inspired by Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, complete with a working chocolate factory, water wheel and chocolate river as part of the Christmas day family buffet lunch. Visitors will be greeted by Willy Wonka and his Oompa Loompas who will give out Wonka candy bars to children – and five lucky winners who find a golden ticket will win a winning a special prize. Entertainment for children will include a visit to Santa’s grotto, face-painting, magicians and craft tables.
For those wanting to enjoy a traditional Christmas lunch, a special festive four-course meal with all the trimmings will be served in the main hotel – with Father Christmas making a special appearance.
The hotel is also hosting a gourmet lunch, starting with a champagne and canapé reception, followed by a six-course Christmas lunch in the stunning surroundings of the Blairs.
Ardoe sales manager, Claire Thomson, said: “It might not seem like it’s all that long ago since the kids went back to school following the summer holidays, but Christmas will be here before we know it, so it’s important to make plans now or you could miss out.
“At Ardoe, our staff aim to help take the stress out of the festive season, and make it memorable for all the right reasons.”
The luxurious mansion house provides the perfect setting for a Christmas getaway, and guests can also take advantage of the special Christmas residential package at the beautiful hotel.
