The big question over whether the UK should remain within the European Union will be debated next week by leading figures from both sides at Oil & Gas UK’s annual conference.

The UK Oil and Gas Industry: Open for Business conference is taking place at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on June 14 and 15 - the week before the EU referendum.

The speakers at the conference session - which takes place on the Wednesday (June 15) - are:

  • Michael Moore, former MP and now Senior Adviser on Devolution at PwC.
  • John Edward, Scotland Stronger in Europe.
  • John Longworth, Vote Leave.

Hosted by Moray Macdonald, from public relations consultancy Weber Shandwick, the session will kick off with Mr Moore outlining the political landscape and giving an insight to potential business implications depending on the outcome of the vote.

The event will then involve five minute pitches from the speakers from each side of the debate before our host will put industry's most burning questions to the three speakers.

Deirdre Michie, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK, said: “This promises to be an engaging debate on a hugely important topic being followed closely by all industries. While Oil & Gas UK remains neutral, our members will have their own views on the vote and hopefully our debate can help provide them with further useful information and insight.”
