Entries are open for 2016 DF Communications Business Golf League

North-east businesses have the opportunity to swing into action in 2016 as entries are now open for the DF Communications Business Golf League.

Around 40 companies are expected to sign up for this year’s event which begins in April and will raise money for charity.

Businesses have until Friday, March 25 to book their place in the long-running competition which is played at courses across the north-east of Scotland, culminating in a final due to take place in September.

DF Communications, an award-winning mobile phone and communications specialist to small, medium and large businesses, is sponsoring and organising the long-running league for a fifth consecutive year.

Last year’s tournament was won by Stuart Forsyth and Stuart Hill, of Glacier Energy Services, at the prestigious Castle Course at St Andrews. The event raised £800 for MND Scotland which supports those affected by motor neurone disease. The charity was chosen by 2014 winners Fugro.

Each year the winning team nominates a charity to benefit from funds raised during the subsequent year’s event.

Iain McWhirter, Head of Fundraising & Volunteering at MND Scotland said, "I would like to thank everyone at DF Communications who helped raise this fantastic amount of money for MND Scotland.

“We rely almost entirely upon people like them to fund our work. This money will go towards helping us provide vital services for people who have motor neurone disease and their families.”

Craig Forsyth, sales director at Aberdeen-based DF Communications, said: “We’re delighted to announce the return of the Business Golf League. We have already received a high level of interest from companies who are keen to take part again or looking to sign up for the competition for the first time.

“It’s proven to be an extremely popular format with north-east businesspeople in previous years and we’re looking forward to getting back out on the course in 2016.

“The current climate in Aberdeen is tough and networking is high on the agenda for many firms. The golf league provides a fantastic opportunity for players to form new working relationships which may help to boost their businesses.”

The Business Golf League will see companies tee off at a variety of local courses. The league is played in a fourball format with five or six teams in each division, while matches will take place between April and August. The winners and runners-up of each division will then qualify for the finals to be held at a top Scottish course in September.

Teams of between two and four named players can enter at a cost of £159 plus VAT. Any businesses interested in taking part should contact Craig Forsyth or Iain Powell at golf@dfcommunications.com or call 01224 588844.
