Multi award-winning torque specialist EnerQuip has announced significant expansion in a key market, thanks to the purchase of larger premises in Houston.
The Aberdeenshire-headquartered company, which is on track to achieve revenues of more than £20million this year, has moved from sub-let, shared accommodation to a purchased building in the Humble area, located in North-east Houston and strategically closer to several regional customers.
The 6,000sq ft base comprises 1,500sq ft of office space and 4,500 sq. ft. laydown/yard space. It will initially house a team of five personnel with the headcount expected to grow in the coming months, as the business actively looks to recruit across several positions.
The move will increase EnerQuip’s capacity to handle refurbishment and life extension projects of torque equipment throughout the Western Hemisphere, removing the need for equipment to be shipped back to the company’s global HQ near Aberdeen, thus reducing lead times and adding value by being closer to a growing customer base.
Last year, the US and Canadian market accounted for a fifth of EnerQuip’s overall revenues and in 2024 so far, 100% of work has come from non-UK markets. As well as eclipsing revenue targets early, plans to grow the overall headcount by 15% in 2024 have also been surpassed ahead of time, with 15 new people joining the team in 2024 to date.
Andrew Robins, managing director said: “This move will better aid the flow of revenue whilst attracting new machine overhaul and upgrade business that would traditionally have had to be shipped to the UK, or potentially lost out on due to the long transit times to the facility in Aberdeen.
"The anticipated benefits of this are many, including an anticipated uptick in work from customers operating in the Western Hemisphere and the creation of additional jobs in Houston.”
Launched in Aberdeen in June 2015, EnerQuip is a leading specialist in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of market-leading torque machines and associated products, including bucking units and fully rotational makeup and breakout torque machines which can be adapted to suit any application.
