The Aberdeen, Highlands & Islands branch of the Energy Institute (EI) has boosted the coffers of local charities, thanks to a new fundraising event.
The local branch, which is the largest outside of London, recently held its inaugural fundraising golf day at Aberdeen’s par 69, 18-hole Craibstone Golf Course. Teams of four competed on the day with Global Energy Group named as winners, Cable Solutions runners-up and Nexen in third place.
The £1000 proceeds from the event will split between Kayleigh’s Wee Stars which makes memories for courageous children, and the Cornerstone Foundation which raises funds to support people seeking to live a valued life.
The branch is already well-known for its busy schedule of events ranging from technical meetings and industry visits to the flagship annual dinner at Aberdeen’s Marcliffe Hotel & Spa.
Branch chairman Laurie Mackay commented: “It was a real pleasure to contribute to both local charities and work with Craibstone Golf Club. The golfers all had a great day on the course with some impressive card returns and our golf pro was under pressure to make the cut on the day. The feedback was unanimous to hold a similar event on 6 September 2019.”
