Simon Toole, OGA’s director of licensing and legal, will update delegates on the formation of the OGA, the role of his department, the legal framework for disputes and the MERUK (maximising economic recovery from the UK Continental Shelf) strategy following the Wood Review and the passing of the Infrastructure Act. He will then lead a discussion on the Energy Bill, which will formally establish the OGA as an independent regulator, and its new powers.
Delegates will learn at first-hand about the impact of the Energy Bill on the sector and the OGA’s role in asset stewardship and regulation of the UKCS. With expert speakers on a range of subjects including legal & commercial behaviours, the EU Offshore Safety Directive and legal topics including administrative law, interpretation of contracts and default and termination, the conference is designed to be informative to in-house and private practice lawyers of all levels.
