As highlighted in NOF Energy's Annual Survey the UAE is an extremely important market for members, many of whom are setting up offices and operations there, engaging with local partners and starting to win good business.
The theme of Energy A Balanced Future is relevant to the UAE, bearing in mind the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 has as a key objective of diversification into additional energy sectors by removing the heavy reliance on oil in order to develop and grow the economy. As an example and in addition to the many oil and gas projects, there is a new nuclear build at Barakah and several renewables projects underway and planned.
The UK supply chain has many years’ experience in servicing multiple energy sectors. This cross sector expertise is exportable and where better to consider than a market with similar objectives and a plethora of projects sanctioned for development in oil and gas (upstream and downstream), nuclear and renewables. Now is the time to look at partnering with companies based in the UAE, with collaboration being the key to ensure success and future growth for all involved.
Energy A Balanced Future UAE 2016 will see a conference with speakers from both the UK and UAE covering the 3 key sectors, an exhibition area for UK and UAE companies to showcase their business. In addition there will be an afternoon session of one to ones to meet key buyers in attendance and local partners who may be interested in engaging with you. As always there will be an evening reception the day prior to the conference so you can start the networking early.
Why the UAE?
Douglas-Westwood, NOF Energy's consultancy partner, has highlighted the Middle East as a relative bright spot for upstream activity during the oil price downturn. Douglas-Westwood expects the Middle East to continue to buck global trends, anticipating another 3% increase in the number of onshore wells drilled this year.
According to the ADIPEC team in the UAE, US$9.7bn worth of business was done across 4 days of ADIPEC last year.
