Creating good food using only the best local ingredients has always been at the heart of everything we do at ‘Eat on the Green’ and since we opened our doors 13 years ago, we have worked closely with local suppliers who share our ethos and passion for high quality food; one of these long-standing relationships is with our local butcher Presly’s of Oldmeldrum.
Presly’s of Oldmeldrum provide us with absolutely outstanding customer service, they understand our commitment to using only the best local produce and the importance of having full traceability of where our meat comes from - literally from field to fork!
Eat on the Green’s relationship with our local Butcher is also an integral part of our membership to the ‘Scotch Beef Club’ which shows our commitment to knowing about the food we use in our kitchen and where it came from; we can have full traceability from the farm of birth right through to the delivery into our kitchen larder.
A lot of people are still intimidated walking into the Butchers Shop, they are confronted by a display of raw meat and don’t know what to choose. Don’t feel intimated by the different cuts and types of meat on offer in the butcher’s shop, use this to your advantage – try something new!
There are a multitude of various cuts and types of meat on offer and because the person standing behind the counter is so knowledgeable about their product they can advise on alternative cuts which, when cooked correctly, can be just as good if not better than the higher priced premium cuts.
To celebrate ‘National Butchers Week’ our dinner menu at ‘Eat on the Green’ next week will feature a beautiful Roast Fillet and Braised cheek of Aberdeen Angus Scotch Beef served with a Malbec reduction and to end the week on Sunday lunch we will be serving Roast Sirloin of Aberdeen Angus Scotch Beef.
