VSA, the social care charity supporting the people of Aberdeen and North-east Scotland, today announced it is re-opening the doors of Easter Anguston Farm to the public this weekend, in time for the school holiday period (Saturday, July 6).

The farm underwent various exciting changes last year following successful funding from the Just Transition Fund (JTF). As a result of funding received, the charity made upgrades across the farm to become more sustainable, including installing new polytunnels where they have been growing their famous strawberries again this year, ready to ‘Pick Your Own’, and encouraging ‘farm to fork’ as well as having a new playpark in place.

Holly Leiper, Head of Communications & Fundraising at VSA said: “The VSA team and our trainees are looking forward to welcoming back visitors this Saturday so that families can once again come and enjoy the wonderful surroundings of Easter Anguston Farm in time for the school summer holidays.”

Holly continues: “The ongoing improvements generously made possible by the Just Transition fund last year continue to benefit all of our visitors. It is also wonderful to open the doors each summer after lots of hard work to get the farm looking its best. The strawberries are ripe and ready to pick by our visitors this weekend, they can also enjoy familiar sights such as our farm animals, farm shop and fantastic café run by CUP.”

The Peterculter-based farm is run by VSA and is an educational training facility with the primary purpose of supporting adults with learning difficulties to gain work experience while supporting trainees to broaden their skills and gain recognised qualifications.

VSA is proud to provide access to the farm at no entry cost to the public, however, all donations are welcome. A small parking fee of £3 per vehicle is now in place. The farm is open daily – 10am – 4pm.
