Duncan Farms, a family-run business based in Aberdeenshire, have announced that its traceable and sustainable free-range Duncan’s Eggs are now available in Sainsbury’s stores across Scotland.
The premium eggs are now available to purchase in 29 stores, including Berryden Road and Garthdee Road in Aberdeen.
Duncan Farms are renowned for producing high quality free-range eggs. From field to fork, every stage of the process is carefully considered to guarantee responsible and sustainable practices. All the hens’ feed is grown on their Aberdeenshire farms, which produce over 15,000 tons of cereals annually that is milled and mixed on-site into a nutritious feed.
Duncan’s Eggs customers can have confidence of the provenance of their eggs and the welfare of the hens that laid them, each free range egg is traceable using the online egg tracker on the Duncan Farms’ website. This allows customers to track their egg back to the free range farm each egg is laid on.
Multiple key projects are also underway across Duncan Farms sites to drive continual improvements with its sustainability. Projects include planting over 68,000 trees on its farms and over 20km of hedgerows to increase biodiversity as well as provide shelter for the hens.
Since it’s establishment in 2011, Duncan Farms have worked alongside sister business Muirden Energy to ensure renewable energy integration with the farming business by investing in renewable energy solutions, including the installation of wind turbines and solar panels at free-range sites and biomass heating at rearing sites.
In addition, Duncan’s Eggs packs are made from recycled content and are 100% recyclable.
Rachael Duncan, Duncan Farms’ Sales Director, commented, “we are delighted that our Duncan’s Eggs are now available in Sainsbury’s stores, giving the opportunity for shoppers to purchase Scottish free-range eggs. It comes at a pivotal time with ambitious growth plans for the company.”
