Annie Kenyon Architects (ak|a) are delighted to have been commissioned to partner with Drumbulg, a collective exploring the deep connection between creativity, ecology and climate resilience.

The partnership will deliver a well-considered and unique space dedicated to supporting artists, creators and regenerative climate activities. Integral to the creative vision of Drumbulg, they have committed to restore a rural steading with a regenerative approach.

With the growing climate emergency, it is vital that architecture practices continue to take a sustainable approach from the offset when managing project development and client relationships. Brought together by their similar core beliefs, ak|a, represented by senior associate, Adam Wagg, and Drumbulg have designed the renovations with low carbon materials and principles in mind, while also enhancing the historic context, and natural environment.

Drumbulg represent a collection of artists who have committed to sustainable creative practice as a way of contributing to a healthier environment. When complete, the new purpose-built hub will serve artists with space for creativity, ecological restoration and interdisciplinary collaboration. After reaching out to ak|a, the practice was delighted to be appointed to realise the full potential of the steading from feasibility to onsite works.

In a statement Drumbulg said: “This collaboration marks a pivotal milestone in Drumbulg’s journey. With Adam Wagg’s expertise and Annie Kenyon Architects’ shared values, we are confident that this partnership will result in spaces that not only meet our practical needs but also embody the principles of regenerative living. Together, we aim to create a project that inspires other to imagine and realise a more regenerative future.”
