Sarah Downs and Yekemi Otaru, Co-founders at Doqaru Limited, scooped the Social Entrepreneur of the Year award last Thursday at the Scottish Women’s Award in Glasgow.
Speaking about the win, Ms Downs notes, “We’ve focused on supporting our community as one of our core values at Doqaru. This award recognises our whole team and our work collectively to support others.”
The award saw another Aberdeen businesswoman, Tracy Clark, MD, at ITC Hydraulic, take home the Business of the Year award at the same ceremony.
Ms Otaru notes, “It’s fantastic to see women-led businesses recognised this way. These awards showcase exceptional contributions to business and society. I’m thankful for the recognition.”
Doqaru recently became a Living Wage Employer and launched a few community-focused initiatives this year, including a cookbook to support the Aberdeen North Foodbank.
