Eric Trump, who runs the US president-elect's business empire including his Aberdeenshire golf resorts, has spoken out in support of the North Sea oil and gas industry.
In an interview with GB News, Eric Trump said the North Sea energy industry was the "greatest in the world" and had been "mistreated" by both the UK and Scottish governments.
Also backing UK farmers in their protest against tax changes, he told GB News: "I hope the farmers here find the same voice that the farmers in the US found.
"And by the way, I can say that of a lot of industries over here who have been totally mistreated; the greatest oil and gas in the world is in Aberdeen. Arguably the greatest in the world and the way they've been treated is horrible."
He added: "America was under that same path as well. And again, the people of our country rejected that categorically and our path has changed. It's done a '180' since two weeks ago.
"You've got the greatest natural resources in the world in Aberdeen and unlimited oil and gas. And this great benefit to all of Europe and it's a great benefit to a country who'll otherwise become dependent on countries around the world, who do not have your best interest at heart or America's best interest: really the best interest of the West at heart."
