The Book of Mormon will return to Aberdeen’s His Majesty’s Theatre for a three-week run in 2025, leading the way in a sensational new season of shows announced by Aberdeen Performing Arts.

Audiences can also expect a stunning adaptation of literary favourite Little Women, an imaginative take on Scottish cult classic Restless Natives, and a visit from local heroes The Flying Pigs at His Majesty’s Theatre next year, while multi-award winning comedian Sara Pascoe is set to visit the city’s Music Hall.

Brilliantly clever thriller, 2:22 A Ghost Story, will make a welcome return to the city theatre by popular demand, while next year’s His Majesty’s Theatre pantomime has been confirmed as family favourite Cinderella.

Delve 2025 will invite audiences to put their trust in curator, acclaimed singer-songwriter Rachel Sermanni for a weekend of new experiences and performances, and Scottish Dance Theatre’s Pirates will bring some swashbuckling fun to the programme, tying in with the Tall Ships Race 2025.

Aberdeen Performing Arts chief executive Sharon Burgess said: “Our new season brochure is packed full of treats and treasures, with music, drama, comedy, family adventures and more all coming to Aberdeen.

“I’m particularly looking forward to Little Women - a beautifully written and fascinating portrayal of strong, complex female characters that I am so looking forward to seeing played out on the His Majesty’s Theatre stage.

“Add to that our newly announced Comedy Festival, and there’s a lot to get excited about at Aberdeen Performing Arts for 2025!

The smash-hit Broadway musical Book of Mormon visits His Majesty’s Theatre from Wednesday, September 3 to Saturday, September 20.

Written by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, the show has won nine Tony awards, four Olivier awards and more than 30 international awards since premiering in 2011.

The Book of Mormon follows a pair of Mormon boys sent on a mission to a place that’s a long way from their home in Salt Lake City.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone are the creators of the Emmy and Peabody award-winning television show, South Park, and the feature films South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut and Team America: World Police.

Robert Lopez co-created the Broadway musical Avenue Q and co-wrote the songs for Disney’s Frozen and Coco. He is the first and only double ‘EGOT’ winner having won all four major entertainment awards at least twice - Emmy®, Grammy®, Oscar® and Tony® Awards.

Little Women is on from Tuesday, May 13 to Saturday, May 17.

Classic Scottish movie Restless Natives starts a new adventure as a stage musical featuring the music of Big Country, making a pitstop at His Majesty’s Theatre from Wednesday, May 21 to Saturday, May 24.

The His Majesty’s Theatre pantomime for 2025/26 has been revealed as Cinderella, running from Saturday, November 29 2025 to Sunday, January 4, 2026, and packed with all of the traditional pantomime secret ingredients.

Cinderella features laugh-out-loud comedy, stunning scenery, beautiful costumes and plenty of boos and hisses, as Cinders goes from rags to riches, outwits her very ugly sisters and meets her dashing Prince Charming.

Delve 2025 will take place over the weekend of Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25, inviting audiences to dive into a weekend of beautiful gigs and creative activity with none other than Rachel Sermanni at the helm.

Get ready to dive into a world of fantasy and adventure with Scottish Dance Theatre’s family show Pirates! at His Majesty’s Theatre from Saturday, July 19 to Sunday, July 20 as we sail into The Tall Ships Races 2025!

Sara Pascoe will visit the Music Hall on Friday, March 6, 2026 with her show, I Am A Strange Gloop. Have you ever been awake in the middle of the night and thought something so smart and astute that you couldn’t wait for the world to wake up so you could tell them? This show is that thought. In that it doesn’t make much sense and is a bit weird on reflection.
