The DF Communications Annual Golf League is nearly here, teeing off next week on April 29th, bringing together businesses from across Aberdeen and the North-east for another season of friendly competition and meaningful connections.
Now a much-anticipated fixture in the DF calendar, the event blends business networking with a strong community purpose, raising vital funds for local causes along the way.
While golf and networking may be the draw, the heart of the event lies in its fundraising mission. Last year’s league raised over £1,100 for MND Scotland, and this year's league supported Aberdeen Cyrenians, a charity helping people in crisis across the North-east.
But the Golf League is just one part of DF Communications’ ongoing commitment to giving back. Last year alone, DF Communications donated close to £10,000 through fundraising and donations to local charities and community groups.
This included donating smartphones to help organisations like the Russell Anderson Foundation stay connected, providing free internet connectivity for Cash for Kids’ Christmas Present Drive, and keeping vendors online with seamless contactless payments at Charlie House’s Big Bounce event.
DF has also given an iconic piece of telecoms history a new lease of life. The DF Big Phone, a repurposed Motorola Microtac that once hung outside the company’s Arches office, now serves as a mobile charging station and WiFi hotspot. It's available to loan to charities for events, helping them stay powered up, online, and ready to fundraise.
Speaking on the event, sales director, Craig Forsyth said: “The Golf League is a great way to bring people together while making a real difference in the community. Each year we’re blown away by the generosity of the teams who take part, and we’re proud that the event has become such a valuable platform for raising awareness and funds for local charities.
"It really reflects what DF Communications is all about - connecting people, supporting the community, and having a bit of fun along the way.”
