Work by 150 art and design students will go on display this week as one of Aberdeen’s most exciting cultural events gets underway.
The 2016 Gray’s School of Art Degree Show launches on Friday, June 17 and will showcase the work of all final year students, spanning disciplines including painting, fashion and textiles, contemporary art practice, 3D design and communication design.
The popular annual event, sponsored for the thirteenth year by BP, is a great opportunity to see emerging north-east talent, as well as purchase a wide range of work.
Head of Gray’s School of Art, Professor Chris O’Neil, is overseeing his second Degree Show since he joined Robert Gordon University (RGU) in 2014.
He said: “It is a very, very rich show this year and we have seen a level of engagement from the students which once again demonstrates the integrity, commitment and talent of our new artists and designers.
“The Degree Show is a fantastic celebration of the work of the students, and plays an important role in contributing towards Aberdeen’s varied and continuously developing cultural offering.”
Prof. O’Neil added: “We are extremely grateful to BP for its support of the Degree Show over the past 13 years and for helping provide our students with such a strong platform from which to launch their future careers.”
The Gray's School of Art Degree Show 2016, sponsored by BP, will be launched on Friday, June 17 and runs until Saturday, June 25. Entry is free and opening times are Monday to Friday, 7am to 10pm; Saturday, 9am to 6pm; and Sunday, 9am to 3pm.
