April 15 is the new deadline for nominations to be submitted for the 2016 Young Oil & Gas Supply Chain Professional of the Year Award. Oil & Gas UK and the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) will present the award at an industry seminar they are co- hosting on May 17 at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Ken Cruickshank, Oil & Gas UK’s operations manager, said: “It is important to acknowledge the talented supply chain professionals whose skills in procurement, logistics and contract management will contribute to the efficiency improvements required to restore competitiveness to the UK continental shelf. The supply chain seminar theme this year is ‘Cultural Change and Greater Collaboration’ and there are clear signs that the co-operative style of working between purchasers and suppliers of all sizes is already having a positive impact on the industry’s current cost and efficiency challenges.”
Phil Broughton, corporate relations for CIPS, energy and oil and gas sectors, said: “CIPS recognises that in these challenging times it’s essential that procurement and supply professionals continually push boundaries to deliver the efficiencies that the industry so desperately needs. The award seeks to recognise the fresh thinking that the profession’s future leaders are delivering. CIPS is proud to help recognise their talent.”
As winner of the inaugural award presented at the 2015 seminar last year, Katie McIntyre, contracts engineer, Centrica Exploration & Production, said: “The greatest benefit in winning the award was the recognition of my achievements from Oil & Gas UK and CIPS. Over the past year I have continually been congratulated by my peers and others within the industry and have been involved in a number of strategic projects I may not have been, had I not gained the recognition I did as a result of my award. I would thoroughly recommend any young Supply Chain Professional in the field to apply, it is a fantastic opportunity and a great platform from which to further your career.”
This year’s seminar provides the ideal arena for delegates to learn more about the work of the oil and gas industry’s Efficiency Task Force, how the supply chain’s behaviour is changing to help improve efficiency and also how non-oil and gas sectors are raising their business performance.
