Crohn’s and Colitis UK has benefited from a generous donation from The Law Practice Leasing, which pledged to donate a percentage of its profits from all leases drawn up during the autumn months.
The North-east branch of the charity, managed entirely by volunteers, spans Banff to Inverbervie and Corgarff to the coast.
Margaret Parfitt, chairperson at the Aberdeen and Shire group of Crohn's and Colitis UK, said: “We’d like to thank the kind girls at The Law Practice Leasing for their brilliant efforts on behalf of Crohn’s and Colitis UK. Half of the money raised will be sent to head office, going specifically towards research. The other half will fund an activity for our young patients – we have 65 youngsters in the north east who suffer from Crohn’s or Colitis.”
Emma Higgins, leasing manager at The Law Practice Leasing, said: “This is an incredible charity and I’m so pleased we’ve been able to raise this sum for them. It’s lovely to be told what the funds will go towards – we’re delighted to be supporting both the research and the social sides of the charity.”
Ashleigh Carnie, leasing co-ordinator, nominated Crohn’s and Colitis UK for one of the team’s charities during 2015. She said: “My dad has had Crohn’s since 1993, before my brother and I were even born. Crohn’s and Colitis UK is fantastic and does lots of work to raise funds and awareness. They’ve given him advice on how to deal with his symptoms and helped with practical aspects too. It’s hard to get life and holiday insurance when you have Crohn’s, for example, so the charity signposted him to specific companies. They’ve helped us fundraise too; I did the ‘Nippy Dipper’ Boxing Day Dip with family and friends.”
This effort from The Law Practice Leasing comes as part of The Law Practice Solicitors & Estate Agents’ plans to support ten individual local charities during 2015, its tenth year of business.
