A trio of newly announced shows for His Majesty’s Theatre are set to bring plenty of mischief, a dash of madness and a dollop of humour in 2025.
Brand new musical Cruel Intentions will visit the city theatre from April 8-12, while the Lyric’s Witches of Eastwick will stalk into HMT from March 19-22, and Aberdeen Student Show’s newest offering Seagully Blonde, is set to swoop into His Majesty’s from April 23-26. Aberdeen Performing Arts Director of Programming and Creative Projects, Ben Torrie, said: “Aberdeen Student Show and Lyric are two of the jewels in the crown of North-East theatre so the Witches of Eastwick and Seagully Blonde are guaranteed to be fantastic, slick productions, showcasing the hugely talented performers we are lucky to have on our doorstep.
“We’re also delighted to be adding Cruel Intentions to our 2025 programme. It's up there with the biggest new musicals coming direct from the West End, giving us some irresistibly catchy 90s nostalgia with songs from the biggest artists of the time.”
Following sell-out seasons in London and New York, brand-new smash hit musical Cruel Intentions stops off at His Majesty’s as part of its first major national tour. Based on the iconic film and inspired by Les Liaisons Dangereuses, it’s packed with ‘90s pop classics including the songs of Britney Spears, Boyz II Men, Christina Aguilera, TLC, R.E.M., Ace of Base, Natalie Imbruglia, The Verve, *NSYNC and many more. Step siblings Sebastian Valmont and Kathryn Merteuil engage in a cruel bet: Kathryn goads Sebastian into attempting to seduce Annette Hargrove, the headmaster’s virtuous daughter.
Weaving a web of secrets and temptation, their crusade wreaks havoc on the students at their exclusive Manhattan high school. It’s not long before the duo become entangled in their own web of deception and unexpected romance, with explosive results.
With spooky season just around the corner, there’s no better time to announce the Lyric’s newest production, The Witches of Eastwick.
From the company that brought you "Kinky Boots" and "Sunshine on Leith", the Lyric are back and they are ready to cast a spell on audiences with this comedic musical.
Set in small-town America, three divorcees, frustrated by the constant scrutiny and disapproval of their buttoned-up neighbours, fantasise about their ideal man. Coincidentally, or maybe not, the brash, vulgar and, on the face of it, distinctly unappealing Darryl Van Horne arrives in the neighbourhood. It doesn’t take long before he uses his charms to release their creative energy along with their inhibitions! However the women are soon regretting what they wished for as things begin to spiral out of control. But hell hath no fury like three women scorned and pretty soon Alex, Sukie and Jane use their newly discovered powers to teach their depraved seducer a lesson.
Fresh from the record breaking ‘Mounthoolin’ Rouge’, Aberdeen Student Show are tickled pink tae be returning for their next production, ‘Seagully Blonde’! Kinkell Woods (but ye can ca her Elle, abdy does) is makkin’ her wye from oot in the sticks to the granite city to start a law degree (Fit, like it’s hard?!).
