Whilst most people were celebrating Father’s Day, making the most of the warm weather or just relaxing on a sunny Sunday in June, Team Danwood were taking part in “Longest Day Golf” Challenge to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Sunday saw the team of four tee-off at 4.45am from their local golf club – Culcabock in Inverness. They began the mission to complete four whole rounds of golf in just the one day. This amounts to 72 holes, 1,400-ish shots and an 18 mile walk.
The team went through many highs and lows, some bogeys but mostly birdies.....and a lot of rain in the last round, but they got the job done and completed the challenge in an impressive 16 hours and raised over £1,300.00 for Macmillian!
Paul Macleod – director of Danwood Highland said: “Playing 72 holes in one day was an intimidating prospect, it’s bad enough playing 36! However the camaraderie between the lads was superb and the focus of raising money for such a worthwhile cause ensured we pulled through. We would like to thank everyone that so kindly donated as well as the staff at Inverness Golf Club for making the day run so smoothly.”
