Cash for Kids North-east Scotland hosted a spectacular new event, Dance for Kids, on Saturday, August 24 at Aberdeen’s iconic Beach Ballroom.
The event was generously supported by Sport Aberdeen, PCL Live, JG Ross, and Trophies International.
Hosted by Northsound 1’s Grant Thomson, the evening featured two exciting competitions: a Junior competition with three pairs and an Adult competition, also with three pairs. The audience was treated to dazzling routines in the Jive, Cha-Cha-Cha, and Charleston styles, which left everyone in awe.
Each pair performed a one to two minute routine after receiving four one-hour training sessions with choreographer Jamie. Following each performance, the evening’s judges—radio presenter Amber Zoe, social media influencer Sinead Noble, Northsound 1 Breakfast show host Jeff Diack, and charity manager Jamie Smith—provided feedback before scoring the pairs.
After both competitions, the audience had the opportunity to vote for their favourite pairs. Combining the judges’ scores with the audience votes, Abi and Sam were crowned Dance for Kids Junior Champions with a stunning Jive to Proud Mary. In the Adult category, JG Ross’ very own Steph and Colin thrilled the audience with a Cha-Cha-Cha to Let’s Get Loud, earning them the title of Dance for Kids Champions.
Jamie Smith, Cash for Kids North-east Scotland Charity Manager and Head Judge for the evening, expressed his delight: “I am thrilled with how the evening went. All the dancers showcased the incredible progress they made in such a short time, and it was evident how much they enjoyed themselves. The audience was fully engaged, adding to the electric atmosphere. I’m also pleased to announce that the event has raised a fantastic amount for our Winter Warmer Appeal, with more donations still coming in. We can’t wait to host this event again in 2025.”
Dance for Kids was organised to raise funds for the charity’s annual Winter Warmer Appeal, which is crucial as many children in the region face the harsh winter without adequate warm clothing. This campaign will remain a significant focus for the charity as the colder months approach.
Due to this year’s success, Cash for Kids North-east Scotland is delighted to announce that Dance for Kids will return on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Beach Ballroom. Those interested in participating are encouraged to contact the charity at nescotland@cashforkids.org.uk.
