Countsswells to offer tricks and treats

Aberdeen’s growing town is hosting its second community fair next weekend on Saturday, October 26.

The Countesswells Autumn Fair, which will be open to the public, as well as local residents, will feature a variety of stalls by local producers, Halloween inspired competitions and games for all the family.

Taking place from 11am – 4pm at Cults Burn Park in Countesswells, the event will include exhibitors So… on Fire, From Bakery Lane, Bows by Lou, Scentsy and more.

Included in the fun and games will be a chance to explore the beautiful landscape around Countesswells through a pumpkin trail, a Halloween fancy dress competition and traditional party games and entertainment from Garry Shand Chainsaw Sculpture.

Countesswells project director, Martin Dalziel explained: “Following the success of our Summer Festival, we have embarked on a series of regular, seasonal events. These themed days will not only encourage residents and the wider public to get out and about in Countesswells, but also allow them to see the changing seasons reflected in the landscaping and green space that are playing a major part in the development of the new town.”

This will also be the first opportunity for residents and the wider Aberdeen public to see specially created sculptures from local artist, Garry Shand. Throughout the day, he will be creating a selection of Countesswells Woodland Creatures that will go on display as part of a special trail around the town.

Mr Dalziel added: “Since the first resident moved in, we’ve been working hard to create a real sense of community which blends traditional values and features with modern infrastructure and contemporary design. Our events are themed to complement the changing seasons, and with the fair being just before Halloween, there will be some spooky activities such as ‘dookin for apples’ and blindfold sticky bun-eating!”

Countesswells’ bus service, the number 44, will be running every half hour on the day with a direct connection between Kingswells Park and Ride and the town.
