Beannachar Camphill Community is currently seeking trustees who can provide expertise, leadership and guidance that will help Beannachar to grow, thrive and develop.

Beannachar (https://www.beannachar.co.uk) was founded over 40 years ago and supports over 35 young people (18-33 years old) with additional support needs (ASN) to discover and strengthen their unique talents and latent potential as they transition into adulthood. Beannachar is one of 11 independent Camphill Charities in Scotland.

Beannachar is located on a self-contained estate in a semi-rural area, conveniently located only two miles from Aberdeen city centre in the vicinity of five other Camphill communities along the River Dee.

The beautiful 28-acre estate supports residential and day placements in:

-4 residential houses for students

- 5 artisan/craft workshops

- 3 ‘service’ workshops

- garden and estate workshops

The current board has four experienced trustees with professional backgrounds in business, social care and finance.

The board works well together and with the community’s executive director and senior leadership team who have day-to-day responsibility for running the organisation.

Camphill Estates is looking for one or two additional trustees with a background in finance, health and social care, business/social enterprise, property development and sustainable land management.

Trustees work collaboratively to secure an achievable vision for Beannachar’s future. As a trustee you will see the difference you can make to Beannachar and local community by:

  • Supporting young adults to be included and valued in society, recognised for their achievements and contribution
  • Supporting families in ensuring we offer the best standard of care we can
  • Supporting staff and coworkers to enjoy their employment and help celebrate their achievements in a value and ethos based organisation
  • Strengthen the Camphill network locally and nationally
  • Supporting social care services in Aberdeenshire to ensure provision for the growing numbers of people with ASN requiring care

Camphill Estates will be happy to provide more information and an opportunity to visit Beannachar with no obligation, to help you decide it the role of trustee is right for you.

Please feel free to contact trustee Jeannie Carlson on 07890375761 or jeannie.carlson@beannachar.org to discuss the role.
