Cornerstone's chief exec shortlisted for CEO of the Year

The chief executive of Scottish social care charity, Cornerstone, has been shortlisted for CEO of the Year at the Scottish Business Awards 2015.

Edel Harris joins seven others in the category which recognises the personal impact of Scotland’s highest achieving CEOs, managing directors and business leaders, and the winner will be announced at an Awards Ceremony on Thursday, where George Clooney will be the special guest.

Despite challenging market conditions, Edel’s ambitious strategy has enabled Cornerstone to continue to grow and maintain its reputation as a pioneering provider of high quality social care services - increasing turnover by 11% over the past year, as well as extending the organisation’s reach across Scotland.

Her leadership helped Cornerstone generate an annual income in excess of £36million in 2014/15 and the organisation now provides support to more than 2,600 people across 20 local authority areas in Scotland.

In June, Edel was appointed President of the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce - the first female President in the 160 year history of the AGCC.

Cornerstone Chair, Peter Nicholson, commented: “Edel being shortlisted for the CEO of the Year 2015 is testament to the tireless work she does for Cornerstone, the third sector and the wider business community.
“With Edel at the helm, Cornerstone continues to grow and support more people with disabilities across Scotland, despite facing serious challenges in the current economic climate.

“Everyone at Cornerstone would like to wish Edel the best of luck at the Awards on Thursday.”

Cornerstone provides care and support services for adults, young people and children across Scotland who live with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, dementia and other support needs.
