Engaged couple Jacqueline Youngson and Frankie Masson from Macduff, Aberdeenshire have realised their dream of winning an exclusive wedding competition sponsored by catering specialist, Entier, and wedding venue, The Barn @ Barra Castle.
Three couples reached the competition final by creating and sharing on Facebook a short video which explained why they would be worthy winners. The general public then voted in their thousands to choose who would make it through to the grand finale cook-off challenge, where the couples were asked to prepare a meal which had personal significance to them.
Sarah Stephen from The Barn @ Barra Castle, “We certainly put all the couples through their paces, really pushing their commitment by asking them to share their love stories and then inviting the top three to cook for us. Although each couple created delicious food, Jacqueline and Frankie’s pan roasted venison was outstanding, they are very deserving winners.”
Fellow judge and Entier chief executive Peter Bruce concurs, “I’m passionate about good food so there had to be an element of the competition which involved cooking. Spending time in the Entier training kitchen with the semi-finalists gave us an opportunity not just to taste their food but to watch how each couple works together, as a team. The high standard, level of preparation, great flavours and attention to detail really impressed me and I’m delighted that Entier will provide Jacqueline and Frankie’s wedding banquet on their special day.”
Jacqueline and Frankie creatively designed a dish which used local produce synonymous with the north east of Scotland and after their gruelling time in the kitchen admitted they were “flabbergasted, shocked and speechless” to win. An emotional Jacqueline said she “couldn’t wait” to start planning for their wedding at The Barn @ Barra Castle on May 6 2017.
