Converged secures contracts while strengthening network offering

Aberdeen-based Converged Communication Solutions has secured a number of new contracts as it continues to expand its Internet service offering.

The leading north-east IT provider has landed contracts worth over £750,000 in the last six months. These wins follow the major investment that the firm has made over the past two years in its connectivity network in the north-east.

Converged, which specialises in providing Internet connections, telephone systems and IT support services, now has one of the most extensive and robust connectivity networks in the area. This has been achieved as a result of partnerships with CityFibre and brightsolid, and 24-hour access to nine unbundled Openreach exchanges in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Unbundling lets Converged, as an Internet service provider (ISP), place its own equipment directly into an exchange, allowing it to offer more competitively priced and flexible Internet connections directly to its customers. The move also widens the connectivity choices Converged can offer clients.

The latest contract awards include over 15 new clients and a number of multi-year extensions to contracts with existing customers. Underlining the importance that businesses now place on secure, reliable and high-speed Internet connections, the contracts cover a number of industry sectors and firms of all sizes.

A new client is Aberdeen-headquartered highlandwear outfitters McCalls. The retailer has signed a two-year connectivity deal covering its six shops across Scotland. Meanwhile, as a result of unbundling Openreach exchanges in Dyce and Peterhead, Converged has secured integrated connectivity and IT support contracts with Aviation Logistics Group and Genesis Personnel respectively.

Neil Christie, managing director at Converged, said: “Offering our clients the greatest range of connectivity choices and at competitive rates is important to us at Converged. Our recent challenge us connectivity campaign has demonstrated this and resulted in a number of new business wins.

“Following significant investment we now have one of the most extensive networks in the region and are able to offer connectivity options to suit all sizes and types of business. We are thrilled that these new contracts bring an additional 4.8GB of traffic to our network, utilising what is a fantastic resource for local businesses. Backing this up is our own in-house technical support team that provides a dedicated service help desk during standard working hours and an out-of-hours service if clients require it.

“Resilient network connections and comprehensive data storage and back-up systems have become the cornerstones of smart business. We are beginning to witness a clear shift taking place amongst companies, whereby they are now viewing these elements as critical to the day-to-day operation and long-term success of their businesses.”
